Overview

What this zone does

The Research Center is where the estate stops guessing. Every variety, rootstock and post-harvest protocol that reaches a commercial block is trialled here first, against measured Brix, firmness, shelf-life and rejection data.

Trials run on live orchard blocks rather than isolated plots, so a result is already a commercial result. The Terra Intelligence sensor mesh feeds every trial the same telemetry that runs production.

Findings are published to partner institutions and pushed into the JUDE Engine as updated agronomic models — the estate improves the moment the science does.

How It Runs

  1. 01HypothesisA varietal, agronomic or post-harvest question is registered as a trial.
  2. 02InstrumentTrial blocks are sensor-tagged and baselined against control blocks.
  3. 03MeasureYield, Brix, firmness and rejection rates captured through the full season.
  4. 04DeployValidated outcomes are written into the estate's operating models.

Operating Commitments

  • Every trial published with full method and dataset to partners
  • Laboratory results returned within 48 hours of sampling
  • Commercial blocks only adopt protocols with two seasons of evidence

Kent, Keitt, Palmer, Brooks and hybrid selections evaluated for export performance.

Predictive Phenotyping

Canopy imaging and sensor data modelled into yield, Brix and pick-window forecasts.

Brix & Nutrition Analysis

In-house laboratory for sugar, acidity, dry matter and nutritional profiling.

Post-Harvest Science

Cooling curves, ripening protocols and packaging trials measured against real shipments.

Research Exchange

Joint programmes and student placements with West African and European institutions.

Model Publishing

Validated findings deployed into the JUDE agronomic models within one season.

Grade A/B — Mixed

Euro-retail benchmark. Low fibre, strong colour break.

At these settings the model expects 17.0 t/ha at 16.4° Brix, with a 21-day post-harvest window — enough for sea freight to Europe.
